Barbells For Bullies is a 501(c)3 non-profit that hosts fitness competitions all around the US to raise money and awareness for animal rescues all over the country, with a specific emphasis on bully breeds.
We host and coordinate CrossFit, Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, and Strongman competitions, in addition to charity workouts and other outside-the-box fitness events. We in turn donate the proceeds from these events to local rescues or advocacy initiatives, fund animals in need, and provide emergency funding to rescues. We are entirely volunteer run - which means nobody draws a salary - and all of the funds we raise can go where they are needed - to help As Many Rescues As Possible!
In addition, we provide educational resources to the general public, host workshops, and donate supplies to rescues and advocacy organizations.
OUR WORK
Dedicated to fitness, creating healthy humans and canines, and fostering an active lifestyle.
Providing access to veterinary care, spay/neuter initiatives, and health/wellness resources.
Raising money for local rescues, funding emergency surgeries, and sponsoring animals in need.
Educating the public about bully breeds, responsible pet ownership, and creating advocates for rescue.
What is a "Bully Breed"?
Bully Breed is simply a blanket term used to refer to over 35 different breeds of dog. Some are pictured left, but they encompass the American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier - the dog most commonly referred to as a "pit bull."
Does Barbells For Bullies only help "pit bulls"?
Absolutely not! We help all dogs in need. However, the sad reality is that bully breeds face a myriad of challenges.
In addition to hosting events that are barbell-centric, we partner with gyms/communities to plan events that are "outside-the-box" - like virtual rucks, online competitions, and peer-to-peer fundraising. For more info on what competitions entail, click on the Competitions tab.
